dogs??

Ive been minding since may 2010, i had my last inspection in November 2010 and i was minding with another minder I have a lab and when working with another minder he was in the garage along with his bed, water and toys while the children where here and for the inspection

now im minding on my own i dont put him in the garage, hes just left to go where he likes in the house (exept the playroom)

Hes toys are now kept in a box in the front room, his water bowl is left in the kitchen so he can drink when he likes and he sleeps on the sofa:rolleyes: (the one the children dont sit on)

Do you think ofsted will have any problems with this , ive risk assessed all of this and have a permission form that all parents sign before children come into my care stating that they consent to max being there during the day

just thought id show you how he spends most of his time in the day:rolleyes:

Sounds like you have assessed the risks of Max being with the children, Ofsted should be fine with that. My dog is in my kitchen whilst the children are here for her own safety and peace of mind. I have had toddlers try to hurt the dog in the past so take no risks. :thumbsup:

i have two labs, They live in my kitchen.

I've risked assessed them, there not around the children simply cos they are bouncy, i let them in with the older children supervised.

If you have risk assessments and consent forms you will be ok

Aww he is lovely. Ofsted will be ok with him because you have risk assessed all dangers. I was worried at inspection about my little dog (Lhasa Apso) just incase I didn't have everything in place - but my inspector said she loves dogs, has 2 big rottweillers at home and seemed happy with my permission forms, I didn't have a RA for my dog, that was before RA's were a big deal like they are now. :D

Aw thanks he's just gone 2 he loves the kids he used to be bouncy but all he does now is sleep he's very lazy lol most of the time the kids don't even bother as they are in the playroom but today I only have 1 minded (9) we are having a Harry potter day after a very busy half term week so he's asleep laid across her

Can't wait for my two to stop bouncing, my youngest regulary knocks me over never mind the kids :laughing:

Lol he is still bouncy but only when he's with my other dog (german Shepard she's 1) she goes to work everyday with my partner lol i couldn't cope with both of them all day I'm just recovering from a black eye they both barged past me on the stairs I fell hit my head on the corner of the wall and woke up with a black eye the next morning lol I let them down stairs before me now :rolleyes:

my youngest jumped at my 8 year old, to lick her nose, she banged her head on the wall and now has a huge bruise. there is no way she can be with the mindees.

my eldest is 18 months and hes getting there doesn't jump anymore but he likes to steal the kids toys, he's very cheeky.

All the mindees see the dogs tho, through a stair gate. They stroke them and all of them love them. I think its goods for children to be around dogs.

We reguraly talk about the dangers, about asking owners of dogs if we can stroke them before we do. not sure we would if we didn't have them here, My mindees parents all love the dogs and regurally ask if they can come in main room, i only do this when they are there tho, so they can hold the little ones so lotti doesn't knock them over.

We lost our lovely lab 3 weeks ago, but I have been inspected 4 times and she wasnt mentioned. She was in the kitchen with a gate across, and Mrs O's were always fine with it

Mrs O was fine with my two springers and last year gave me an outstanding with them around. I have a risk assessment but i do not ask for permission for the children to be around the dogs, the parents choose me knowing i have dogs, they are around for the visits, there is a sign on my front door saying dogs running loose, Ofsted never mentioned that i needed specific permission to be around them.

I have a 3 year old lab and an 11 year old springer, the Springer is out and about like your lab and my lab is in the kitchen for the majority of the day and comes out for some socialisation under supervision with the little ones as they love her sooooo much :)
I have 2 zippy beds in the living room and the children spend as much time in them as the dogs do (they are very comfortable) :rolleyes:
Ofsted have never had a problem with this so I'm sure they'll be fine with you too

I have a dog and each time I have been expected its not been a problem. I have a risk assessment for the dog and also a pet policy. As long as you can show that the dog is not posing a health risk to the children you should be fine

I had my inspection with two Yorkies in the house. My Ofsted inspector paid them no attention at all, although she did read my pet policy.
