Hi

My mindee is at nursery in the afternoon for 3 hours, do they count in my working hours for working out the percentage I can claim or not? Thanks.

... but the HMRC concession says you can only count hours you are looking after children I am afraid.

is it just the 1 child you have?

If you are being paid then you are looking after the child because you are responsible so to be I would argue it as "yes" I am working

I have 2 at the moment, brother and sister part-time, boy before and after school and little girl 2 and half days a week. I wasn't sure about it, because I thought I have to keep the heating on for the time she is at nursery to keep the house warm for her coming back. Just had another thought too, do you start working before the children arrive? Preparing the house, risk assessments etc, heating has to go on a couple of hours before they arrive to make sure the house is warm. When they leave I am still working, house to tidy and paperwork to do, although of course we don't get paid for this time.
