View Full Version : What to get my 9 year old daughter for her bday??

Im really stuggling this year.
She at the age now where she occasionally plays with toys but not for very long.
She not really into craft or drawing, she'll join in but not like my oldest who loves to draw and colour in.
Shes not really into computers, I have a Wii which shes not interested in, she has a old DS which she plays sometimes.
She loves dolls but has all of them, she did say she wanted a dolls pram but everyone ive looked at are for younger children.
So far Ive got her 2 DVDS, Peter Pan and Mars needs mums which she watched both over christmas and she loved.
I really dont know what to get her, any suggestions please???

a real pram???? that way it'd be the right sort of height for her... that and a newborn sized china doll - my sister had one at that age and it weighed about the same as a real baby - we loved it!! you could always then pad it with some 2nd hand baby clothes and a pack of nappies and you're well away!! :D

When my daughter was about that age I bought her a cheap buggy (proper one, not a doll's one). She loved it as it's more grown up, but she can still play with it with her dolls. And on the plus side I get to keep it when she's finished playing with it! Perhaps your daughter would like something like that?

is there anything she likes doing at her friends houses?
lego have just brought out a new girly lego called friends?
a pet??? i don't particuarly advocate pets for presents unless really wanted, but if she likes caring for her dolls, maybe a hamster or guinea pig would be very much loved?

My youngest DD turned 9 in December.
We bought her;
*Roller Skates
*A real Top Hat, a magic wand, a Magic set, white gloves
*A plastic storage box and filled it with craft items
*A chef's hat, an apron and a childrens cooking kit (cook book, wooden spoon, bowl, rolling pin and some cutters).

lego have just brought out a new girly lego called friends?
a pet??? i don't particuarly advocate pets for presents unless really wanted, but if she likes caring for her dolls, maybe a hamster or guinea pig would be very much loved?
My daughter plays with most things when she's at her friends but very different at home.
She has some lego, again not a favourite of hers.
Animals if defintely a no no, we have a rabbit and a rat and lots of others over the years and I think my hubby would kill me if I bought anymore animals.

I like this idea, will look into this, just depends on money, we dont have alot to spend at the moment.

How about arts and crafts, games for wii/ds etc

I like this idea, will look into this, just depends on money, we dont have alot to spend at the moment.
tell me about it!! My DS turns 5 this week - I asked him what he wanted...... his list was 'An Iphone 4S, an Ipad and a Mac'..... :panic:I told him I couldn't afford an iphone and he said 'ok a blackberry then'. :laughing:
He's getting 3 'dummy' phones - you know the sort they use for displays in shops - despite having more phones than carphone warehouse its all he's interested in. I sooo wish I could afford to get him an ipod touch but I can see it being broken before i get my moneys worth from it!

take her for a manicure/pedicure with a design
nail art set to do at home
my dd still really loves her dolls. has your dd got the Sally and Sam range (the scary toddler dolls). we buy baby clothes in the sales at primark for them and I think their pram is more grown up.
what abut tickets for a show???

Heeleys. Like skates inside trainers. My daughter wanted them for her birthday last year and has loved being on them. I don't get the personally but hey Jo!
Lego Friends is also really good. My daughter had some for her birthday this year and has played for Hours with it.

lol you are not kidding, the number of times I've walked in thE room and done a double take thinking one of my mindees had been left behind :laughing::laughing:

Mine is too, she had all the dolls going but rarely played with them. Her fiends had dolls for Xmas, dd had a Kindle!!
If you have some presents then how about giving her a certain amount of money and having a girly day out so she can choose her own things she wants.
