tax question

I am due to pay just over £600 in july for next yr ( i think thats right)

Will this be deducted from amount due this time next year? As i think, due to a drop in work, my bill for whole year will only be about £600, so if i pay this in july am i right in thinking i wont have to pay anything (or very little in jan 2013)???

If you are paying £600 in July then that is on account for 2012/2013 and you will also have paid £600 on your tax bill for Jan 31st on account for 2012/2013 so if you only have £600 to pay for 2012/2013 then that will be deducted from the total paid of £1200 and you will have £600 to come back.

If your bill for 2012/13 is only going to be £600, do your tax return for 2012/13 before July and you will never have to make that payment.
