This might seem silly but I'm making my own and I have no idea what to put in it?

:s

Can it just be as simple as

Date Product Price

Then on the back of the book could be my income

:laughing: That made me laugh but it's probably easier to start off with - you could always make your own next year when you know exactly what layout you want.

You need to show income and expenses in 2 separate sections, then have a 3rd sheet which shows totals for each month.

It must not be complicated or you won't want to use it... so if you buy something and it doesn't make sense to you then adapt it until it does!

HMRC do not mind how you keep the records - but they do need to be accurate and easy to understand if you are ever called in to explain what you have done.

You'll also get some form of accounting book if you insure with NCMA or MM I believe
I like excel and so made my own on that, using the top columns as months and the rows down the left side to itemise things ie:

Jan Feb March
Income child a £xx.xx £xx.xx £xx.xx
Income child b £xx.xx £xx.xx

Total £xx.xx £xxx.xx £xxx.xx

Gas £xx.xx £xx.xx £xx.xx
Electric £xx.xx £xx.xx £xx.xx
Phone £xx.xx £xx.xx £xx.xx
Food £xx.xx £xx.xx £xx.xx
Travel £xx.xx £xx.xx £xx.xx
etc etc etc

Expenses Total £xx.xx £xx.xx £xx.xx

HTH :D

**Ooops, seems to have got lost in translation! The columns look straight in my preview lol, but I'm sure you get the idea
