Employed and self employed 2010-11 help

I was employed until January 2011 when I started childminding. I am finally trying to file my tax return, and am stuck on the first bit! :blush:

It is asking me if I need to complete the employment section. I have no idea! Surely they should tell me! :laughing:

So, do I need to fill it out if I was working in a nursery for 9 months of the tax year, or have they already got my details?

yeah you need to fill that bit out...Ive never had to as I wasnt workign so not sure completely what details are needed but it sounds like you would.

Hi yes you do need to fill that bit in. You need to take the information from your P45 or your final month salary slip. You need to enter the details that they request I think it's gross pay and tax paid. They need you to do this so they can work out how much tax you need to pay or how much they have to give you back.

Did mine in May so can't remember. I have to fill it in each year as I have another job as well as childminding.

Thanks, I filled it all out and submitted last night! Phew! On today's agenda: Call an accountant for 2011-2012! :D

My friend has one who specialises in childminders and he charges £72 per year. That's less than I spend on a couple of nights out, and would save me a fair bit of work and confusion.
