ink cartridges

I have an epsom 515sw printer and I have always used the original cartridges but they are expensive I have looked on line and can see non original cartridges at far less cost. Has anyone ever used these and are they ok because I dont want false ecomomy by breaking the printer x

I have the same printer as you and have tried cheaper inks at first no problem with the first black cartridge but the printer then refused to recognise them so have had to go back to the original.
