As per the new NCMA handbook 2008/2009

NCMA's Legal Team are now strongly recommending that a substantial deposit is taken from parents or 4 weeks fees paid in advance.

That way if the parent removes the child from the setting without notice then the minder can retain the deposit or use the advance fee's for the notice period that the parents have not given.

They are hoping this will stop a lot of cases where the courts are used to obtain notice monies owed.

she swallowed the book to tell the childminder...........

thanks dee i have started toughening up

when the baby started coming full time i took an undated cheque from mum.
i knew she couldn't afford to pay nearly £500 for me to hold a deposit so we compromised
my hubby keeps asking if he can cash it yet!!!!!

Very funny

They have actually done a good job this year.

Instead of having to re-read everything they have put a pretty pink banner that states 'NEW' or 'UPDATE' so it is easy to see what has changed!

a good move, but the parent I was going to have but cos I'm moving not:clapping: to moving, said childminders are just as expensive as nurserys now because of how they charge:( I think cost shouldn't come into good childcare

Just read your parent's reply, Rubybubbles, why shouldn't we be just as expensive as we are more flexible, more accountable, more reliable and more committed than most nursery staff- sorry to the good ones out there, but having previously had my kids in both settings I know which I'd choose if I had to.
If the parents get tax credit it's not so much of an issue anyway, and if they don't they can probably afford it.

I'm more expensive then my local nurseries...& proud of it! When parent's comment on this I say, "The best is always expensive"!:D
