I record where we went, how many miles it was and therefore the total cost (mileage x 40p/mile)

I could be wrong but I thought it had gone up to 45p per mile?

Rickysmith is right it was April 2011 that it went from .40p to .45p

To answer your question I was told by the HMRC that you need to be able to do the route so in my accounts I put hme-HL School-hme-tesco-hme-HL - blunsdon school-hme

I keep an individual record of what mileage is for the everyday trips and then add it up at the end of the day.
