Basically as the title says! is it ok to do a food hygiene course online?

And is there any one that is particularly recommended?

AND does this have to be done before you start minding children?

Ofsted said I should expect my registration certificate next week, and i've just panicked and realised I havent done a food hygiene course!!

I did mine on line with the virtual college after checking with environmental health in my local council that they would accept it. I posted a link a few weeks ago on this site as the virtual college had the course at a discounted price of 18 pounds and I think it was till the end of September. If I had done the course locally it would it would have cost 50 pounds.

Food hygiene course is not actually a requirement of Ofsted as it is not part of EYFS. It is also not a requirement for environment health under Safer Food Better Business.

However it is good practice and some Local Authorities ask for it as part of a quality insurance scheme or as a requirement to access funding.

To answer your actual question - yes a online course is fine
