I have a meeting with parents/neighbours tomorrow night. I have a three week contract to collect their son from school whilst he is settling in at reception. I have to collect him at 11.30, but will need to leave the house at 11.15 if not before to get there. I will have him until 5.30pm, three days a week. Would you charge from 11.30 or from 11.15? I am not sure what standard practice is.

When I collect from nursery I always charge from the time I leave the house as if I wasnt collecting their child I wouldnt be going out (my own children are older) - never had a problem with parents paying for this as they usually understand once you have explained it to them

I would only charge in half hour slots, so would charge from 11am.

But what I would probably do is say you charge a session rate for those hours. Don't mention any start time. I would just say 'for collection and keeping mindee until 5.30pm I will charge X amount'. Just work out how much it would be from 11am until 5.30pm and quote that amount. Don't specify the actual hours or hourly rate.
