Hello. I took my form to the doctors yesterday and they didnt give me an exact price to get it filled in, but said it will probably be £45. This seemed alot to me - How much has everybody else paid? They didnt mention this at my ICP!

I didnt get charged but only because at the time i was registered with a RAF med centre. I do know alot of people that have been charged and i think its varied from £10 - £100

It does vary from surgery to surgery and different areas of the country.

It is a huge rip off but unfortunately you need it done so have no choice but to go ahead :(

Hi mine was £ 10 then I filled a form in and was allowed to claim it back from ofsted, they would pay back up to 3 50 but not over, although mine was under. Sharon

Hi there

Mine was £45 too.

Two days later I got a letter from my child minding support team to present to my GP asking them to waver the fees or charge a nominal amount as child minders are providing a service to help children etc. Tried it with mine but it didn't even get a reply.
Oh well....get a receipt for the £45 and put it in yr tax claim

I was told it was £20, which I thought was reasonable then they messed me about and told me to pick up the form as it was £50! SO I picked the form up, really pee'd off only to realise that my doctor had filled it in anyway! haha
So I sent it off. Therefore my doctor got nothing! Shouldn't be so blooming tight, should he

Sorry NO WAY!!! they had already filled the form in they surely couldnt think for one min i would pay that!!!

Sorry if I'm being dipsy but I have been reading through the paperwork I was given at my briefing session and I can't see any mention of needing a Doctors report? At what stage is it required?

Its part of the Ofsted application I think. Amazing how quickly the whole registration process disappears from the memory!!

Oops - I obviously didn't read it very thoroughly then! Maybe it was the teething baby and dd who was continously asking questions that distracted me - I'll use that as my excuse anyway.

Best get on to my surgery tomorrow and see how much they are going to rob off me!

Thanks - Carole x

I was told it would cost me £52 and I asked how it could be so much because some people I know didnt pay anything or paid £15. I was then told its up to the doctor I then requested to put a note in with the form and asked to re-evaluate the price. They told me they'll call me and following day they confirmed that it would cost me £17.26 dont know why that figure but its worth questioning it.

Glad I'm not completely cracking up then cos I know it wasn't mentioned at my briefing session either! Start my ICP course on Tuesday evening so maybe they will inform us all!

I paid £10 and it was mentioned at pre reg briefing!!!!!!!
It just seems so unfair dr's can charge what they like, should at least be a set fee or free!!!!!!!!!

Our doctors charge £18 but they invoice the council for it and it doesn't come out of my grant.

I paid £84.50 :( ......... handed it in thursday morning, and they rang me 5pm next day to go pay fee as it was completed. they wouldn't give me the form back and they wouldn't send it off until i paid the fee. God knows where they get their prices from?? My GP's practice is a nice new modern building, very flash so i suppose they have to get their money back from somewhere!!!

Ive got a reciept though so im going to try claim it back if i can

I paid £24 last week. Spoke to the Ofsted inspector at my pre-reg on Friday about it (my old gp never charged me for doing it when I was registered before) and she said if you think you have been overcharged you can speak to Ofsted and they can look into getting a rebate for you. Most she had heared of was £68.

Thankfully, I've paid nothing due to being with Army Dr's. I know someone on my ICP that has been charged £77.50 though.

There's no standard to it, just up the dr in question. As per usual it's down to a postcode lottery really.

I'm sure I paid about £10 - £15. I know I wasn't horrified by it but still think its cheeky as its a medical form and not a passport or something not medically related. Surely its part of their job to write medical reports especially as it actually involves so little writing.

Teachers don't ask parents to provide letters or information to new schools etc etc its all part of the job isn't it?

There was a thread on this a few months ago when I first joined around feb.
