I have a lady coming to see me about her son starting with me next April. I have this space available now also but I am willing to say "yes I will take your child then". Now - Do I charge her a deposit now so that it keeps her place for her. Am I right ? is that how it works? Sorry new to all this and dont want to make a pigs ear of it in front of her, lol.
Thanks in advance

I charge a deposit now and then you are holding the space.

I would also take the deposit now and tell her until it's paid you cannot secure the place for her child.
Make sure you give her a receipt stating that the deposit is non-refundable if she does not take up the place in April and whether it will be offset against the first or last month's fees.
Good luck
