most other childminders i know do charge during the school holidays but its something ive never done and maybe i should

If you are going to be available for work during holidays then yes I would or you could lose out on earnings. This way the parents are quaranteed a place when term restarts. However if you do not intend to work the holidays then no I would not charge.

I am not available to work so dont charge. If the space is available for them to use then you could charge but you might risk losing them if this was not the original terms of your contract. I have kids come to me partly because I dont charge a retainer so its a great selling point.

i havent charged a retainer before but most of the other childminders i know ,do. i am due to do the contracts soon so may include it but didnt want it to seem like i ws charging for not providing a service
