this may sound a silly question. I am doing some forward financial planing, and was just wondering once you go self employed as a childminder, what happens with council tax, do you pay more as a business or does it stay the same, as a single parent I pay a reduced amount, but once i start childminding should I factor in more?

I have ,my pre reg next month and could ask then, but I am just so impatient

So long as you do not need to change the use of your premises to business use from private then your council tax stays the same.

Council tax might be affected by things like changing some of your house to business use (having a business only room for example) or taking on an assistant and increasing your numbers of children allowed which would mean applying for planning permission.

Good luck with it all :D
