To help me answer this:

36 posts are spaced evenly along a road that is 1.575km long. What is the distance in metres between each pair of posts.

I know the answer is 45. But why?

ok one post will be at the start so forget that one. then there are 35 'spaces' between posts. 1575 divided by 35 = 45:D

There is only actually 35 gaps between the posts.
