Starting points:
just a list of questions that you ask of the parents:
what is your child's routine - toileting, feeding, sleeping
how do they react when they are tired, excited, scared, happy etc
favorite toys/items/programme/songs etc
can they:
go to the loo by themselves
fasten buttons
put own shoes on
undo coat
feed themself
(obviously age appropriate no good asking if a tiny tot can do their own shoes!!! lol)
what are they like walking - how far
who are they closet/fav people
pets
its just an information gathering exercise so you can get to know the child and their abilities - become familiar with them... no good teaching a child to count to ten when they already can count to twenty forwards backwards and in twos! lol
As to recording... the LJ is a continuous progression - does not differentiate between 'stages' - just runs on. I summarise it for parents termly.
