We took him swimming yesterday for the first time since he was about 3 months old - got him one of those boyancy aid jackets that you have to still doggy paddle in to keep afloat and by the end of about an hour he was managing to swim and keep afloat mainly by himself - and he has been really scared of water until recently. DH is going to take him every week now as I am so busy during the week for the next month or so but after that I am going to see if I can join DH's gym too so we can take him together - it cost us £18 to get me and george into DH's gym yesterday but it was so nice and clean and quiet.
