A really dumb question i know and as im not childminding yet.. (been registered since Dec) just had some really blonde question. If a child is 8 1/2 yr old. Do they get classed in your numbers as childminders are registered from 0 - 8 yr old.

No...but they are classed in your insurance & they must not hinder the care offered to the under 8's.:)

I have lots of over 8s... they are great with the little ones, but you do need to be selective! :D

Eyfs is for children from birth to the end of their reception year at school.

We do not know what the new rules will be for ages 5 - 8 and there aren't any at all, as things stand, for over 8s except that their care must not impact on the younger children in the setting.

No question is dumb - if you don't know the answer it's always worth asking :D

There should be some training available from your local CIS...

You could give them a ring tomorrow and ask what's happening in your area! :D
