parental responsibilty query

Hi

Can someone please advise?

Mindee's parents live together, both are on the birth certificate but they are unmarried. No court problems etc. Do both have parental responsibility??

Yes if the child was born after 1 Dec 2003.

No if the child was born before. It will be just the mother.

Depends on the country the birth was registered in, as well as when the child was born. If the birth was registered in England or Wales then the above post contains the answer. If it was in Scotland then the father will only have parental responsibility if the child was born on or after 4th May 2006. If the child was born before this date in Scotland only the mother will have parental responsibility.

Wow wee you guys are on the ball! I've just started to look into this more deeply quite recently as I care for children with all sorts of family set ups . Where does this info come from? I'd love to read into this further and be able to quote this at my next inspection.
