A few childminders in my area have had calls from Ofsted (prospect) saying that they will be in touch over the next few weeks for our inspections.

A childminder friend of mine has just had hers and apparently she was told that they are now trying to complete inspections in 2 hours and were only actually with her 1 hour 30 minutes. Good news eh !

wow that seems quick! Is that for first grading inspections too I can't see how they can fit everything in in such a small amount of time

Great news for those that don't like inspections though! :)

Not sure if its first gradings because we are all on 2nd or 3rd inspections.

She also had a hand written SEF which apparently the inspector read while she was there. That must have taken up most of the time I would have thought.

Will be interesting to find out then, can't see it myself as alot to do on 1st inspections.

Maybe it will help people feel less nervous if they become so short, guess we will all have to watch this space :)

sounds short for all they need to do, but dont think I'll complain as long as they're fair :)

Ours through Prospect are averaging around 3 1/2 hours and thats is with a sef that has been previously read.

My friend had a written SEF which the inspector apparently read during the 1hour 30min inspection. She actually ask her if she had finished because she couldnt believe how quickly it had gone.
Mrs O told her that they are trying to keep them to 2hours or less, and she got a good overall.

I've had my inspection today, I THINK she said that it would be about 3 hours, cos I remember mentally working out how long that would be. But she was actually there maybe 2 hours or slightly less so maybe I misheard her.
