Hello!!!!

I am currently toying with the idea of having each mindees coat and wellies hanging in the dining room (which leads straight into garden) at child height so they can acess them themselves, encourage independance skills etc and keep the exit clear incase of fire etc etc etc.

The only idea i have had is putting up clothes hooks and hanging coats and wellies?? from this but i feel the may be dangerous with them being hooks??

has any other childminder done this and if so what do you think is the best way to do it and what is the best solution for the children??

Thanks J xxx

I have a wooden bar with wooden 'pegs' on at low level in the hall - bit like these -

never had a problem with them. Wellies underneath in one of those rubbery bucket things  or left in the porch when they are muddy

what about one of these http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...ECOAT+RACK.htm (http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-4274914-5590799?URL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.argos.co.uk%2Fstatic% 2FProduct%2FpartNumber%2F8756019%2FTrail%2Fsearcht ext%253ECOAT%2BRACK.htm">coat rack</a>). It can go in the front hall for arrivals / pick up then you can put it by the garden door for outdoor play.

I have a peg for each child in the hall, only a small peg, and each child has their name above it :)

I have 6 of the hooks shown in the link - three boyish ones, three girlyish ones. Then above them i have velcro so the child can put their own picture above the hook.

Underneath i have 12 boxes (6 in a row for shoes, then 6 on top for 'special' items such as dummies, teddies etc) - Ofsted really liked the boxes as it gives the child their independence, as kids walk through door they put away their own shoes and special things
