I have done two or three first aid courses before and have paid around £40 - due for renewal this year and no longer available through Early Years. Gone directly to providers and they are charging £90 for the 12 hour course which is a massive jump - is that about right now ?!?

I am in West Sussex and thought we had to pay for them now, the whole lot. Although not looked into it as mine is only a year old at the moment and just about slipped in to getting it free

I am in west sussex and just renewed mine and its cost £109. Would have been cheaper, but it was really hard to get onto a course and as mine runs out in June I really needed to book one in May....lots were full up! I was told that lots of providers are running less courses as now its not free to childminders they are not expecting as much demand!

In my area, lots of CMs get together and 'employ' their own first aid instructor.
We've managed to get one for £43 each and we are doing it in a CM's home :)

I'm in Birmingham and now we have to pay £40 for ours - it is a reduced fee, otherwise the costs here were between £75 and £120:eek:

Now that is a good idea... Just recently paid £65 each + VAT for myself and assistant. There are still subsidised courses in my area but when I tried to book (5 months in advance!) there were none with spaces left. Had to travel to another town as well

At least once it done, its done for a while, though our instructor was saying the powers that be are trying to make first aid more universal and its likely to end up being 12 monthly that we have to re do it

My first aid expires in Oct, and our training directory usually comes out Sept, but there were only two subsidised, Nov and June. So I managed to book onto the June one, but I did the booking last Oct. It was £45.

Think I paid about £75 last time, but that was before I was registered so wasn't entitled to anything subsidised. Exepct there will be no subsidised courses next time round.

Courses run by Early Years or the council usually cost £10, but most of them run during the week.

They were £5 last year, but I guess that's inflation for you ;)

I have just had to pay for mine because the council has stopped funding them for new childminders. It cost me £120!!!
I probably could have found one a little cheaper but I needed it to be on the weekend and in central London.

our early years funding is stopping this year (leicester) so we will have to fund everything ourself at full cost :(

Mine was 3 years ago in October and was £70. We got all of this back from the LA.

I've been told to expect to pay for it all myself this October as funding will stop next month! :(
- think its the way most places are going.

I've always had to pay unfortunately. However, just booked one with Red Cross but through our local college. It's worth checking your local colleges to see if they are running one as that might be a bit cheaper than at the training provider direct.

Similar situation here. Mine and June's First Aid runs out in oct, training schedule only goes up to July and June rang them but they cannot guarantee there will be a course local to us between July and Oct, so we have booked on one in June, costing £40 each, I think:rolleyes:

just got onto a first aid course haven't had to pay. unfortunately the funding runs out at end of march and will then have to pay £75 -£100 for a course. i think that as it is a legal requirement we shouldn't have to pay. i can see alot of last minute people trying to get onto courses when their inspections are due.

you could say the same about your ofsted registration, ICO registration, or Public liability insurance though. :(

I've never had a free first aid course but am just happy that this one (my third) is the cheapest one I've had at £58:D

Mine was meant to be £80 odd but they thought I lived in Wokingham when I live in Reading so charged me £60. I told them before I paid but she said they would charge me the lower fee anyway. Mine was end of last year

I live under Wokingham council and we dont get any help from Early years. I just paid £108 to ABC medical to do mine! And any courses at all that we do via early years, even online ones, cost £18 a time!

No, sorry didnt word my response properly. The provider was based in Crowthorne and if you live in the Wokingham Borough they give you a discount. I work for the council so she thought I lived in the Borough as well. Saved me a few pennies

St j in Canterbury is £125 and the other r/c is £145, not sure if it's because it is going through these charities or thats just how much they charge.

Mine just cost me £114 last week.

Last time I think it was about 60 quid but the course was rubbish, this one has been much better.
