Total panic!!!!!

Have been childminding for over a year now and found out this week from another childminder that you are supposed to have sat a Child Protection Course and a Food Hygiene Course and that these have to be repeated every 3 years with your first aid. Is this true???? And if it is, why is this the first I have heard of it??? I have had my ofsted inspection and I was never asked either.

I don't think the Food Hygiene is compulsory.

Child protection / safeguarding is very important and many areas say it is compulsory... but it is not in the Eyfs so it is not a statutory requirement.

You can do a course online if your area do not have them available.

Food hygiene is good practice and you must be registered with your local council as a food business but a course is not statutory.

Again you can do a course online if you cannot find one locally.

Both should be updated / repeated every 3 years but again this is not a statutory requirement.
