Hi we are doing a theme on nursery rhyme's so I thought I would make some Jam Tarts , never made before,

I found a recipe online so hopefully that will work, but as i want to do this with afterschoolies can I make the pastry in advance or will that not work??? Otherwise they wont have time!

Thanks Jenna x

You could get some of the ready to roll pastry, or I believe that you can buy the pastry cases ready made then all you need to do is fill them

Hi, you can make the pastry in advance. Wrap in clingfilm and put in the fridge to chill. It will be quite firm when you get it out but it is absolutely fine, you just have to knead and roll it out. I often do this as the little ones can't really help to make the pastry, they enjoy the cutting out.

I'd go for the ready to roll stuff but then I'm rubbish at pastry making!

I did this last week and used ready roll pastry, so much easier when on time limit with after schoolies

Thankyou for your help,

I made from scratch and they were ok actually not fabulous but better than expected haha , thats down to my cooking skills though! . Didnt take too long to make the pastry and just popped it in the fridge as Mizzy said.
Might try ready roll next time and see which we prefer!
