BIL in hospital :( (UPDATED)

My bil has been taken into hospital tonight, has had horrible stomach pains for a few weeks, doc had given him antibiotics they have been to nhs24 3 times demanded blood tests and phoned for the results yesterday to be told doc wanted to see them. He is now being kept and and more tests getting done, my mum has gone over to look after sis' kids, but my sis is in pieces, he has been taken to get x-rays done, havent got a clue what could be wrong, he has lost about 2 stone in a fortnight. Im really worried :(

Hope he's ok, my sister was hospitalised Saturday with flu and they're suspecting swine flu. She's home now and on strong antibiotics but she's been ill for a week and hasn't eaten since last Thursday.

Thanks guys, x-rays came back showing a blockage he is getting a scope done today at some point, they put him on a drip last night but havent heard from my sis since this morning, will post as soon as I hear anything else.

I spoke to my sis, his white blood count is very high and they are pumping him full of steroids to try and bring it down, he has a swelling on his bowel and got a biopsy done today, they havent told them what is wrong or even what it might be, they have been told a week for biopsy results but dont know if he will have to stay in hospital until then or if he will get out for Christmas :(

He saw the consultant today they are treating him for ulcerated colitus until the get the biopsy results back, his white cells still havent came down at all and they cant let him out of hospital until they do so he will prob be in for Christmas, they dont know yet if it will be able to be controlled by tablets or he will have to have an op. :(

My sister isnt sitting on her backside she is running about mad and nothing mum or I say will stop her, she just keeps saying she needs to keep busy, she is going to end up making herself ill, didnt help that bil couldnt sleep in hospital last night and spent half the night texting sis so she couldnt get a sleep either. I have asked her and the kids here for xmas dinner just to give her a break for a couple of hours but dont think she will come :(

DH suffers from this - his is controlled by medication. Hope everything works out ok

My dh has ulcerative colitis too. He is taking a low dose of steroid called Asacol daily to prevent flare ups. Do hope your BIL is responding to treatment and the pain has been controlled.
