Hi there has anyone got any recommendations on drawer/cupboard catches

I dont want to be drilling holes in drawers or cupboards and have currently used adhesive ones as below

http://www.simplesafetysolutions.com/Clippasafe-Cabinet-Locks---2-Pack-Product-247.html ive tried these and they have broken!

http://www.simplesafetysolutions.com/Clippasafe-Mini-Multi-purpose-Latch---2-Pack-Product-255.html ive used these and after a month or so the adhesive comes off and then does not stick back on the door ive tried using other adhesive on the backs but nothing works!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...WKE6M8P6AAEA80 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0012ZMMI0?ie=UTF8&tag=childminding-21&linkCode=as2&camp=1634&creative=19450&creativeASIN=B0012ZMMI0">Clippasafe Self-Adhesive Locks (2-Pack)</a><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.co.uk/e/ir?t=childminding-21&l=as2&o=2&a=B0012ZMMI0" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;) and again ive tried these and after a month or so the adhesive wears off!

Any that you have tried and used and still work please let me know

Thank you xx

I bought some from Mothercare and my partner drilled holes for them.

I am not aware of a solution that doesn't involve making holes on the inside of the doors...

I will bump this up in case anyone else has any bright ideas! :D

I bought some brilliant magnetic door safety catches from Boots which you can use when children are there or just leave magnet off when they are not. Mind you it doesnt help the screw holes situation as it still has to be screwed in. I felt the same about my kitchen, but you cant see the screws/holes and if you are childminding for the long term it is a neccessity. It doesnt ruin the doors from the outside so to me it isn't a problem.

Emmay Care Safety Cabinet Flexi Lock from Amazon I have one of these on a cupboard in my dining room its brill once you get the knack of using it, but you need handles (not knobs) These are good too (Clippasafe Sliding Cabinet Lock) again Amazon and no drilling required

I don't use them anywhere. I had a new kitchen in the summer and I refuse to drill holes in it, inside or out! I don't keep any chemicals in the cupboard under the sink anymore, as I don't use that many, I use environmentally friendly products, and those are in high cupboards in the utility room. I have draws undercounter now except the undersink cupboard.

When I did my risk assessment I stated that the children are never left unsupervised in the kitchen therefore it becomes a low risk room.

I use my home to childmind in and of course the childrens safety is very important but I never loose sight of the fact it is a home and the children have to learn how to live in it safely. It is my job to show them how just the way I did with my children. They have managed to survive to the ripe old ages of 16 and 18 unscared!

I'm with Ricky on this one. I got fed up of my DH breaking every catch I fitted within 48 hours so when we had our kitchen replaced 4 years ago I said NO. I am careful what goes in the accessible cupboards & drawers but basically chn are taught whats ok & not left unsupervised. I did a full RA that I regularly update & I got an O from Ofsted so can't be doing much wrong (said tongue in cheek lol)

my house is sort of open plan so i cant gate the kitchen off. but i only have a cupboard lock on the undersink cupboard where the cleaning things are. ive recently had a new kitchen too but the holes that i had to drill for the lock are tiny and on the inside anyway so cant be seen. I refuse to have them on the low crockery cupboard as children have to earn not to touch and ive not had anything broken yet!!

Yes my new kitchen is a large kitchen dining room and so it can't be seperated.

I have nver had a problem with any mindees and I have from 8mth to 6yrs. They learn that they do not touch.

I'm open plan too lounge/diner & kitchen. Fortunately however I have a breakfast bar that divides the kitchen for the dining area & I have been able to fit a babydan 3 part gate (effectively 1/2 one of their play pens) across the gap, and it folds away under the bar when not needed. I only use it when I have mobile babies, to keep them out of the kitchen & give the older children an area where they can safely get out toys with small pieces, crafts etc
