Hiya...

Im just wondering...when doing the DHC...do i have to do unit 1-5 to be able to start taking children or is it just unit 1.

Im just wondering as my LA arent being very helpful...:rolleyes:

I am ex LA staff and ex NCMA staff - so can say with confidence - It is just unit one to start childminding - check out NCMA website as have details of DHC and new diploma that is soon to replace DHC.

Some LA's have their own specific requirements for courses linked to their funding and / or their Quality systems - but for Osted registration it is just unit one (plus First Aid of course).

Also be aware that some colleges - try to say you have to do all 5 units - as comes as a complete course - not true so challenge.

Sorry your LA is unhelpful - due to budget cuts and in some areas the whole early years team going - afraid LA support is going to get worse not better.
