i think i know this but can anyone tell me the benefits of having a safeguarding policy please.

It's a statutory requirement - so if you don't have one, you are breaking the law!!

Also it sets out what to do if you are worried a child is being abused or if an allegation is made, so that, if the worst happens, you know exactly what to do by referring to your policy.

The new Govt are looking to re-introduce the Child Protection element of safeguarding so I would suggest the title now reads...

Safeguarding / Child Protection Policy and Procedure.
