ive got a mum coming to sign contracts for a 6month old and a 4 year old tomorrow, they will be starting in january, im not going to charge a retainer but will ask for a deposit to keep the place which will come off the first months fees, im not sure how much to ask for though, does £100 sound fair or too much? her monthly fees will be about £680 dont know if this makes any difference?

I charge 4 weeks fees for every Contract when it is signed.

I keep the Deposit until the end of the Contract.

If all payments are up to date then it covers the 4 week notice period. It also means that I always have 4 weeks money against any non or late payment and I don't have any arguements about them not wanting to pay the notice period.

So in this case 4 weeks fees for each childs contract.

It may seem hard but after having a couple of rubbish payers and one who left refusing to pay the 4 weeks notice I decided this was the best way to avoid any nonsense like that again. It is such a hassle trying to get money once a prent has given notice or left.
