Hi I have done my tax return through an accountant which is fine and they have toldme how much tax to pay. So do i wait for a letter now from inland rev to pay what i owe??

Your accountant should have told you when to pay.

It has to be paid by the 31st Jan 2011.

I think the threashold is if you bill is over £500 you will have to pay 50% more in Jan ready for the next year. (so if the bill is £600 you would pay £900 by 31/1/11) and the other 50% (£300) by the 31st July. Plus Class 4 Nat Insurance, sorry I can't remember the % for that, again your Accountant should tell you. or Debbie will be along to remind us.

I know how much to pay and that it needs to be by jan 2011 but can i go on line and pay it. Someone told me you get a letter in the post that tells you how much and ways to pay

Yes, you will get a proper letter nearer the time saying how much you owe etc. and how you can pay.

You will get a letter from the HMRC in December and June telling you what has to be paid
