childcare grants and being paid

Hi all

I am hoping someone can advise.

I have a parent who is about to start back and uni and is applying for a chilcare grant. But she requires care NEXT WEEK and I have only just filled the form out today.

I ask to be paid in advance, so any ideas how these schemes work and when I would be paid?

I have had trouble with this parent not paying before, and I am worried about working before being paid. e.g....what if the grant does nt come through at all? or not for several weeks or more?

ANy tips or advice about how to deal with this greatly appreciated.

Should I ask her to pay me herself until it comes through and then I will reimburse her?
Or is that not allowed?

Considering the history I would ask for payment up front or at least a weeks deposit to be returned at the end of the contract
