I am covering Rosh Hashanah, Jewish New year 9th and 10th Sep) next week.

So far my ideas are-

* paper folding and cutting to make a Star of David (off website DLTK's Crafts for Kids- great site!)

* Sliced apples dipped in honey- traditional Jewish New Year food to wish a happy and sweet new year.

* making a star of david crown (also off DLTK)

Is anybody else covering this festival?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks:)

it is the custom to eat honey during the festival of Rosh Hashanah in the hope of a sweet year ahead so make honey biscuits.

Ingredients for approximately 12 biscuits:

* 100g wholewheat flour
* 50g butter or margarine
* 1 tablespoon of clear honey
* pinch of salt

Oven to Gas mark 3, 300˚F/150˚C

Mix the dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. Next, rub in the butter or margarine and then stir in the clear honey to make a firm dough.
roll out the dough onto a floured board. Provide shaped cutters for the children to stamp out approximately 12 biscuits.
Place the biscuits onto a greased baking tray and bake for about 20 minutes or until golden. Leave to cool.
