I've just had a call this evening for before and after school care, sounds ideal, they live nearby, it's the school next to me and she's 9y so would fit nicely with the 11y I already have. Only catch is they need a 7am start, my normal hours are 7.30am-6pm.

Normally I charge £5 per before school session and £10 after school, if they come everyday I offer a discount so charge £60 for the week. What would you charge for the extra half hour and early start?

Thanks again, I'd be lost without this place x

Thanks, £80 seems a good figure, still works out to a reasonable hourly rate for the parent but makes it worth my while getting up that bit earlier. Will see what happens on friday x

Before 8 i charge time and a half so that first hour would be £6.00 so total cost from 7.00 a.m. till 9.00 a.m. would be £10.00.

Sorry meant to update, went well, her daughter was away for the holidays so she is bringing her to meet me next week and sign contracts :) She was happy with my fees so added bonus!

That's great news - well done.

It is an early start but at least you're getting a reasonable rate for it!

Like clairelou, I charge double-time outside of my core hours which are 8.00am to 5.30pm. All my rates are by the hour with a 5 hour minimum - no session times are offered as no one in our locaility offers them so don't need to do it to compete - this does mean that almost no one around here does school runs unless they have their own children to take to school.

You're obviously more of a morning person than I am :) Although I think to charge nothing extra for starting that early is selling yourself short x
