I am thinking about doing NVQ3 in childcare.

We had a bursary towards ours - it paid for the bulk and we just paid £12.50 per unit on top. Like Hebs I wouldn't have done mine if it wasn't funded.

Mine was funded through the local council Early Years department They're now funding my Foundation Degree

Have you tried phoning your local council to see what funding is available?

Mine is being funded by the neighbouring council:thumbsup: . As I live on the border & belong to a childminding group 'over the border' I get to access their training opportunities. However some non childminding friends have had to pay around £1000 for theirs:(

I had to pay 10% which was £100 and enrolement fees each sept which was £60 in total.

My LA funded the rest. Thank god.

Speak to your LA childminding support/training officer. Good luck.

I paid £5...and that was the admin fee for the college ;)

try your local council and ncma, i had recently received a newsletter from ncma saying that the nvq was now funded, btu think that could just be my local area.

also try early years as they would do a grant for so much of it

It varies from area to area. I was the last minder in my area to be funded for it but only 80% - I've had to pay £150 towards it which college have let me do in installments. I've been told there will be no funding for my foundation degree though :(

I've been told this week that they will fund 75% of the cost of my NVQ3 and I am looking at around £200-£250 to pay the rest :( oh well it will be worth it in the end I guess

Hello Iam from hertfordshire and I started 3 weeks ago I only had to pay £150
the course is run by IVU parenta
Was told there will be no more funding for this course but if you get in touch with your development officer and annoy the hell out of them  they may find a space for you if you ask they can only say no its worth a try
