as some of you might know DD#2 is on the autistic spectrum and has quite significant learning disabilities. She is 18 but has the learning age of an unsophisticated 10 year old.
She attends the local FE college and is doing entry level studies.
I got a phone call last week asking me to make sure we were all at the prize giving evening at the college last night as katie was going to get something.
She got Entry Level student of the year!!!!!!
That was out of many students as its a large cohort.
Not a dry eye in the house as she got up to get the award.
She didnt know until the lady giving the prizes spoke about how "this young woman has overcome serious medical issues (diabetes, deafness, epilepsy, a mild stroke and multiple bone tumours) to get this far."
the lady also spoke of Katies family's support and devotion to her learning and future success and how we were a shining example to all!!!
talk about embarassment!
so there you are....my daughter...
