Disposable gloves

Hi all
do you all use disposable gloves for nappie changes, where do you buy them from? and what kind ? latex? only found those naff plastic ones like on garage forecourts in my local town

£1 shops, Wilkinsons, most hardware and some chemists, some supermarkets.

I also use them if I am dealing with tummy upsets, open cuts/sores - first aid etc.

I got some in Asda the other day in the £1 section. There is only 25 I think in packet but good for putting in the bag to take out with me.

I can't use latex... makes me swell up! I use plastic and they slip everywhere! :rolleyes:

I always use them when changing nappies, I get them from poundstrecher or Tesco.

Don't you have to be careful with using latex gloves (ie for allergies as Sarah has shown already!) get parental permission etc

If there was a known allergy it would already have been made known to the mninder I would assume so you can get non latex gloves ( like I have, courtesy of my mates hubby in RAF, got me some bright green ones!)

I always use them, still wash hands after though. I have disposeable aprons too, but admittedly in the heat of moment rarely use them - plus only found them once up here, and if I run out before inspection... lol

I got my latex free gloves from the chemist. If you ask they will order you a large box and there not expensive either..

I cant wear rubber gloves either :eek:

We were told on our ICP course a few months back that you have to use non allergy gloves. I suppose that means no latex.
I think they expect you to wear these and disposable aprons everytime you change a nappy from what I was taught, seems as bit over the top. X

i'm allergic to latex so i can't use it. non latex gloves are purple usually

You can also get your different coloured cloths for your different areas in your house.

I didn't use gloves to change a nappy when ofsted were here BUT washed my hands before and after. Ofsted didn't say anything but I do have gloves incase of tummy upsets, open cuts.
I just think it would feel very comfortable for the baby/child.

I do wear gloves for anything messy, 100 for £2.49, they are latex though but non of my children have an allergy to them

Thanks for the RAF tip. My hubby is in the RAF so will have to get him on the case. Not sure about bright green though :)

I always use gloves, I think it must be cos I worked in NHS for so long, but the thought of changing nappies and handling blood etc without them freaks me out. As such I go through loads and order them online 1000 at a time. Current guidelines are to use latex free (I use vinyl) seamfree, non-sterile gloves. Here's where I get mine.

I use the blue Nitrile ones which I think are much better than latex anyway!

meggiemoo, they are called Touch n Tuff - disposable Nitrile gloves ( powder free) and if you need a size, I have normal womanny sized hands, and these gloves are 7-7.5 ;) says on botom of box, suitable for use in food prep too, which is handy ( and I didn't know!)
