Hi, I am new to this forum but it looks so useful!
I originally registered in 1997 but left 2 years ago to try my hand at other things.
I would like to return to childminding but not sure if I will have to go to a pre-reg meeting and start from there or whether there might be a quicker way?
Does anyone have experience of returning to childminding after a break?
Thank you GinaX
A lot has changed / happened since then.
I believe you could have asked for a break and keep your registration, {that’s what I was told anyway)
If you didn’t, then you’ll have to start all over again. I left childminding to work in a children's centre for 18 months. Hated it, so when I returned to childminding I had to go through the whole process all over again. Except for the CRB.

Hi Gina
Yes you will have to do it all again - I had a 2 year break a few years ago - I so wish I would have kept my registration going for the little it would have cost me but I really thought I would not come back to it at that time so did not bother
So yes I had to do it all over again - but got to say they were really good to me and let me fly through it because I told them a thing or two there was nothing I did not already know even with the changes so hopefully they will be understanding with you too so it will not take you long
Good luck

Thanx for replying Fifi.
I left to start up a gardening business and never thought I'd come back!
I didn't realize how much I'd miss it!
It sounds like it might take a while to get registered again so I'd better get the ball rolling!

Began re registering process this morn and I will have to start at the beginning with a pre-registration meeting. Luckily there's one nearby tomorow eve. The EECU were very helpful.
Am quite excited but am now beginning to realize how un-childminder like my house and garden are! Everywhere I look there are potential hazards which I never noticed before! I must be very lax with my own children's safety!!
Thanks everyone for your good wishes.

Wow you have got things moving quickly - good luck with the meeting tomorrow
Sure you'll soon get your house in shape - at least you realise what needs to be done
