just checked my emails to find a number of delivery failure notification s - for emails i never sent!
Looks like i have sent an email praising christmasgifts website to my whole contacts list - some of them are old ones hence the delivery failures.
so how do i find out / clean it up? I am the most computer illiterate person , this laptop is only a few weeks old and came all set up with antivirus etc ( through the capital grant)
Anyone who can give me an idiotproof way of sorting it would be a godsend!
Thanks x

its not to do with having a new laptop but looks like you have been hacked, need to go in and change your password RIGHT NOW....

This happened to me and a lot of my friends.

So is it via my laptop that they have got in then? Or out in hotmail cyberspace?

What i mean is have i got a problem regarding my laptop security / firewall etc?

these can be trojan viruses so be careful and never open the attachments!!!!! just mark as spam - these particular ones (mine were dhl supposedly) are when you open the attachment the viruses in downloaded. you can block the email address.

I had that a few months ago. It was a Chinese electrical company and they did it loads, even sending it to me, from me! I had a friend who is computer savvy look at it but he couldn't trace it to block them because it was sent from me! I changed my password and always sign out and it hasn't happened since. I also emailed everyone in my address book and warned them not to open any attachment in them. So annoying!

May i suggest that you also go in and change your secret questions as well becasue this is a backdoor for hackers when people change passwords.

Might be wise to change any online banking passwords/usernames etc also in case your PC has been scanned for the details.

no not ypour laptop but cyberspace.

Hotmail, like yahoo and gmail are all web based mail so can be accessed anywhere so doesn't need you pc/laptop etc to access it.

You did well to change your password and like someone else said change your security questions too.

Passwords that are in the dictionary are easy to hack like this as they have bots that scan the dictionary until it finds your password.

Change your passwords and it will stop it happening.
