i'm planning a minibeasts theme for May does anyone have any good websites, or activities I could plan with the children?

:) We do a bug hunt / tally every year.The kids of all ages love this and cant wait to tick the laminated sheet on the wall . Bless them :D

We are also doing this at the moment

One thing we did do was make a spiders web using white wool but I guess you could use anything really , the kids made a black body on black card and lay the cotton out to make a web, they stuck it down and then put glitter over the top - simple and easy and the kids loved it
The web sparkles in the sun

Also we made some jelly and used little jelly sweets shaped like spiders and snakes ( think they were from sainsburys ) put them in the jelly and left to set - the kids tried to get them out of the jelly - sensory play
Once again messy but fun

I have a few more ideas I will come back later and add

Do you have local park rangers??
Ask them if they can do a walk or pond dipping for you and a group of children, maybe ask other minders to get together.

Hi, I'm also covering minibeasts during May, focussing initially on The Very Hungry Caterpillar then moving on to others. The sites and ideas mentioned are brilliant - thanks will help me lots too.
