says my OH through the dining room window 10 mins ago....

i go outside to where he has been chopping wood...and yes you have guessed it. It looks like texas chainsaw massacre! you can see where he has been by the trail.....

Looks like he has sliced off the very tip of his little finger....but by heck its bled. So an emergency patch up has been done ( will do pro job tonight when he has had a shower)
but now my long haired long beardy biker is lying down in the lounge feeling a bit fainty eating choc digestives and watching top gear! hard man? i dont think so!

back to the invalid!

oh no hospital needed....just the fleshy part gone. very vascular so it bleeds. No bit to re attach.

I may seem a bit harsh but i have been a qualified nurse for 23 years...i can assure you he is fine. Just a bit pale due to the shock!

ow that sounds painful even if i did laugh at the thought of him laying there eating biccies
but perhaps he needs to get it checked out

sorry we must have posted at the same time

i thought as i typed that i am sure you were a nurse but couldn't remember if you were who i was thinking of anyway i hope it doesn't hurt too much though

Has he had a Tetanus jab lately?
If you can find the tip of the finger, they maybe able to stitch it back on.
Has he exposed the tip of the bone? He made need the skin bought over and stitched to cover it. He may need Antibiotics.
I would take a little trip to A&E.

Ignore above, I have just seen you were a nurse

suturing the end of a finger is agony! he is up to date with tetanus. and there is nothing to suture back. Its just a raw area.

its stopped bleeding and the lad is back with his wood. I have had a look at how he did it...the chump was prising two pieces apart and they sprung back...one had a screw in it and thats shaved the tip off.

I did a similar thing with a bacon slicer years ago....it grew back and i have a small scar. and to be quite honest with you...if you saw him naked you would understand why this is a minor accident. This man has broken every long bone , pelvis and ribs on this left side...and has the scars to match!

:) my family get this all the time.....I qualified in '81 and am a firm believer in "patch 'em up and get on with it" where necessary. I have steri-stripped many a cut where others would have gone to hospital.....my OH always complains he gets no sympathy at home:o .........however I am sending your OH sympathy and hope he feels better soon and that its not too sore.

My mil did this and it took a while to heal, but there isnt a lot a hospital can do apart from dress it.

The mindee I look after has chopped the top off completely and had to have it sewn on in surgery!!
