Working in partnership is covered by Principle 3.4 of the Eyfs 'The Wider Context'.

As each child's key person you are responsible for ensuring their learning and development opportunities are the best quality.

This means you must work closely with everyone who has an interest in the child... including other settings.

Why? To make sure the child's L & D is complemented. So he does xx at pre-school and you offer yy so he is not bored / doubling up all the time.

How? By approaching the other setting and asking how they will work with you, finding out what happens there, getting hold of their routine sheets, reading their newsletters, sharing the child's learning journey with his key person etc.

Does it work? Well sometimes, but it depends on the willingness of the other setting to play ball.

hth to start you off :D
