are we supposed plan an activity to cover one of or a number of the 6 areas of learning for each day?

You are covering each of the 6 areas of learning and development through all the normal, routine things you do every day.

Children wash their hands - PD;

They wait patiently while someone else is playing - PSED;

They read books - CLL;

they sing a counting rhyme - PSR&N etc...

You do these things without necessarily planning them, they just happen and they meet the 6 areas.

When you do written planning for children, you are looking to show that you are offering a balance of activities through the 6 areas, on top of what they already do every day.

So your activities might last a day or a week or go in a totally different direction, but you have written up that you have thought about how to cover the 6 areas.

Does that make sense? :D
