Can anyone tell me when exactly do parents get the vouchers for free nursery care?
If my nephew is 3 on 5th September 2010 will it be after October break?
i.e the term after he is 3.
Thankyou

Not sure there are 'actual' vouchers in the real sense, I certainly never had any for my LO's. You apply for a space and then the school/nursery get funding from the LA for that I believe.

It is the term after they are 3. My dd is 3 in June and she will start nursery in the new term in August. I would get your sis to phone the nursery as at ours they took all the names for the full year - anyone that was going to be 3 between March 10 - Feb 11 so they could allocate the places

The child who's birthday is on 5th Spetember will get their funding from January.

Basically the funding (vouchers) always start the term after their 3rd birthday and thats a whole term so after christmas, after easter or spetember.

There are no actual nursery funding vouchers. Eligible childcare settings fill in some forms which includes details about the children they are claiming for. Children can have 12.5 hours of free 'nursery' education from the term after they turn 3 so.....

Born 1st Sept to 31st Dec.......free places from 1st Jan
born 1st Jan to 31st March......free places from 1st April (summer term)
born 1st April to 31st August....free place from 1st Sept

The free hours is due to go up to 15 hours at sometime, though I think at the moment they will be trialling the 15 hours in areas of deprivation first before rolling it out countrywide (not sure exactly on this but I do know our local preschool is due to go up to 15 hours at some point)
