how to record plans and obs?

another quetion im afraid! Im just trying to fiqure out the best way of doing all my paperwork, im going to have file for each child inc thier personal details, hours, contract etc so can i add thier own plans and obs to this? Or does it need to be in one of the proper eyfs journals i keep hearing about? I have another book i use for parent contact showing what we've done and what childs acheived each week.

i keep contracts and things seperate so i can put the files in the hall for parent viewing without worrying about the 'confidential' parts.
you definately dont need an 'official' learning journal - mine are just files with obs , next steps , feedback etc in.
