Proper thick sports socks, odor-eaters in the trainers & deodorant on feet before they are put on & in the trainers themselves (links sp I know) is good)!

How well and how often does he wash his feet? (with soap as well as just letting water flow over them in the shower) Also how well does he dry his feet afterwards....damp feet will lead to smelly feet and athletes foot etc. I would try and get him to use a foot deodorant and talc after washing his feet.

We've got some kiwi deo fresh for DH's trainers which seems good.

My trainers pong too, I don't do any running or anything just numerous trips to school, nursery etc.

I buy a special trainer deodorant from Boots on the footcare counter it works for me but have to keep spraying them every so often.

Don't know if it's already been suggested further up but what about Febreze? That always seems to work for different pongs here! Ha! Actually, I did spray it in my boot slipper thingymajigs and it did work so , yes, Febreze!

I don't have smelly feet normally by the way!

Idealy two pairs of trainers so he's not wearing the same ones each day. Did you know you are not supposed to wear the same pair two days in a row ?

Apparently your feet ( well not just yours :D )produce so much sweat it is held in the shoes/trainers from day to day so giving them a day off gives the sweat chance to evaporate ( nice  ).

Failing that as others have said ( and I know cos I have smelly feet ) nothing beats soap and water twice a day and good thick socks.

Aparently, cat litter left overnight in each trainer will aborb nasty odours. Haven't tried it myself though

But what if the cat does a poo in them, it would smell nasty then.:ROFL1:
