i havnt got an ipod but do have a couple of little mp3 players that i use to play in the car through a tape adapter, i usually just put music on them through window media player from cd's.

what i would like to do is downlaod music from the internet on to them. Someone told me that if i get music through itunes then i download to a blank cd transfer it to windows media player and then put it on my mp3. anyone know if that is right? apparantly i cant put music onto my mp3 directly from i tunes?

on my old computer i downloaded music free but dont want to risk that on my laptop:D

I am on Itunes and yes you can download and put on CD but I have never tried to then put the CD on to the media player.

You could just try it will only cost you 79 pence for 1 song + a CD and you will know.

I would imagine however that apple will have something designed to stop this from happening.

Let us know how you get on.

I have an iphone, DD has ipod nano and mindees use an MP3 player and I only use iTunes for putting music on. To put it on the MP3 player you just have to convert the songs you want to MP3 before transferring them.

If you use any peer to peer software it is...

1. Illegal - that's why I've taken out the name in your post, I hope you understand the forum can't be seen to be associated with it!!

2. Highly likely to wreck your computer as it contains a huge amount viruses and other threats etc

3. Theft of music licence - every song, like every film is licensed to someone somewhere.

You can change the format of CD and other music using simple format changing software - I think there's one called switch that the children use.

Hth :D

oh thankyou graham will have a go at that! im happy to pay for my music

i know certain things are illegal to do, but everyone at some point as copied a tape or cd for some one else! recording off the radio is illegal too but people have always done it. i always used to record the top 40 at weekend desparatley trying to press stop and start at the right place before the dj spoke!

it is not illegal to copy (for your own use only!!) a cd if you have the original, i often copy cd's that i've bought to play in the car as they end up scratched :panic:

Napster is good for downloading too, i love it x

Ah yes, those were the days, Alan (Fluff) Freeman, I used to record it on an old reel to reel recorder and as you say try to stop it when the DJ came on talking.

Younger readers of this thread can skip this post as you won't have the foggiest idea what I am on about.

I can remember my sister recording her fave TV programme on a tape recorder - we all had to keep still and silent throughout -except when she paused it for the commercial breaks

Didn't they deliberately talk at the beginning / end of each track to put people off taping them?
Oh for those simple times again... (but leave me the microwave, and computer, and dvd, and dishwasher ..... etc etc etc.....)
