Whether your assistant is considered self-employed or employed is a question that gets asked a lot, some people have been told their assistant can be self-employed others have been told that they must work for other people too before they can be considered self-employed.

Below is a link to the HM Revenue Employment Status Indicator which can help you decide if someone is employed or self-employed:

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/calcs/esi.htm

I can't give any advice on the results as I am not qualified, this is for information only.

You really need to speak to HM Revenue to decide what is best for you.:)
