We took Seri to see it this afternoon. I didn't think I was going to like it much but turns out it's one of my fave Disney movies in a long time. It was different and I liked that about it. Besides, I absolutely love New Orleans so the setting was perfect for me. And other than Mulan, I've never cried during a Disney cartoon. This one brought a tear (in fact, several) to my eyes.

It was really lovely and the soundtrack is amazing. I love Creole/Cajun music!

I've only got one mindee on Monday. She's 9, it's an Inset Day. I thought I might take her to see this, so glad to hear you enjoyed it

I'm being lazy and just copying what I wrote on FB (so sorry to my friends who are reading it twice)

I love the way Disney took the P out of themselves a bit with the whole wishing upon a star thing but then added that it had to be backed up with hard work.

And it was Ray and Evangeline at the end that made me cry!

Oh but Disney are still the masters of crass commercialism as Seraphina is wearing her Tiana dress and crown that we just had to purchase when the film ended! They wanted £30 online but good ol' George had it for £12.

You know, maybe I'm overthinking this way too much but I have always tried to avoid the 'Disney Princess' mentality with Seraphina but, despite my best efforts, she is hooked on it. I'm uncomfortable with the conglomerate Princess POV as I certainly do not want my daughter sitting around expecting to be rescued from life and circumstances by a man or even a fairy godmother (speaking of which, I love Mama Odi as the bayou godmother, haha). So anyway, I think that's why I love Tiana so much.

Plus, I am making jumbalaya, too. :-)

Not one of my favourite Disney films.

10 year old enjoyed it but 6 year old got bored. (never been into princesses, not enough action for her!)
