I have been asked to care for a 9 year old. do i need to be registered for this or do i still have to wait. school hols obviously!

If the parents want to claim tax credits then yes, you need to be registered.

also if you work without registration you will not be insured... which is a very risky thing to do.

Isn't there this thing with the voluntary part and compulsary part of the register? Confused!!

thats right, if you wish to childmind over 7s you can register on the voluntary part of the Ofsted Childcare Register. NCMA has membership for this, there is a yearly fee..you get public libility insurance as well with registering, and you can use the NCMA contracts and have their help. OFSTED has a link on their website for over 7 childminding, also NCMA has information regardin over 7s. Just google search over 7s childminding and ofsted an NCMA should come in the search results.

P.S

if you register voluntary your clients can claim child tax credit, use child vouchers. Im sure there is alot that i missed out and im sorry for that for more details look up over 7s.
